In 2000 Niger exported goods amounting to $320 million, with uranium accounting for the bulk of the value. Imports totaled $450 million. Two-thirds of all exports go to France. Other major purchasers of exports are Cote d’Ivoire, and Italy. Chief sources of imports are France, Nigeria, Cote d’Ivoire, China, Belgium, Germany, Italy, and Japan.
