Legislative power in Ecuador is vested in the unicameral National Congress. It is made up of 121 members, 79 of whom are elected at-large nationally and 42 of whom are elected to represent the provinces. All members of Congress serve four-year terms. In addition to lawmaking, Congress ratifies treaties and chooses judges for the country’s supreme and divisional courts.
